Established in 1979, Shankarananda Kalakshetra is named after its founder Sri G.S. Shankar and is dedicated to the memory of Smt. Subhashini Shankar. The institution is a center nurturing excellence, where budding talents are trained in the classical art forms of dance and music.

The institution is a renowned center for learning where students are taught dance theory, music, yoga, Kalari, Nattuvangam, costume, stage, sound and light techniques providing a holistic training in the arts .Shankarananda Kalakshetra is particularly known for exacting standards, split second tala precision, body kinetics, group dynamics and aesthetic subtlety. The Shankarananda Kalakshetra ensemble is widely known for high standards, discipline, and symmetry.
